HESPERIA – A suspect is deceased after a brief standoff on Sunday, August 5, 2018. At around 11:43 a.m. deputies from the Hesperia station responded to a mobile home park in the 9400 block of Tamarisk Avenue for the report of a man with a gun. “The man pointed a gun at a neighbor for an unknown reason,” Hesperia Police officials said. “Initially, the man was cooperative, speaking with deputies and then refused to come out of his house.”
An officer-involved shooting occurred with both one or more deputies and the suspect firing. The suspect was shot leading to his death. Authorities do not yet know if the fatal wound was self-inflicted or if he was shot by deputies. The investigation is ongoing. Additional information will be released as it becomes available.
