ADELANTO – The City of Adelanto Mayor Rich Kerr sustained injuries after a motorcycle crash near the Adelanto Grand Prix on Saturday evening. The Adelanto spokesman Michael Stevens said that Mayor Kerr was riding his motorcycle in the desert with his kids following. “Unfortunately his front wheel hit a soft spot and he was thrown from his cycle around 4:30 p.m. on Saturday,” he said.
Kerr was rushed to St Joseph Health, St. Mary’s in Apple Valley where he is being treated for a broken left collarbone, several broken ribs, and a partially collapsed lung. According to Stevens, Kerr remains hospitalized and although there is no known prognosis or release date, he is still responding to text messages, emails, and conducting business from his hospital bed.
Kerr is an experienced rider and is not one to shy away from challenging activities, which includes bull riding at the Adelanto Rodeo in October. “He has been riding dirt bikes for years, so he is not a beginner,” said Stevens. City officials said they will update the condition and prognosis for Mayor Kerr when more information is available.
