ADELANTO – A 19-year-old Adelanto man lost his life in a Highway 395 crash on Monday night authorities said. At around 10:55 p.m.
Gabriel Duran was driving a white 1999 pickup truck northbound on CA-395, when for reasons that remain under investigation he turned into the southbound lane in the area between Rancho and Adelanto Roads near Adelanto Stadium. The pickup truck slammed head-on into a 2010 black Toyota Tundra, that was towing a boat and had five occupants. Duran died at the scene as a result of traumatic injuries sustained in the crash.
Three of the occupants, some juveniles were transported by ground to a nearby landing zone to be airlifted to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center and Loma Linda University Medical Center. A fourth occupant was transported to a local hospital and the fifth did not request any medical aid. The road was closed for several hours for the Major Accident Investigation Team (M.A.I.T.) to investigate the cause of the collision and for the coroner to respond to the scene.
Gabriel leaves behind two brothers, Angel and Nathaniel, four sisters, Mariah, Viviana, Celeste, and Samantha. He also leaves behind his mother, Valerie and his father, Pablo.
