APPLE VALLEY – The community has a tendency to complain about trash in they see while driving or walking past it. Most drive or walk on by without picking it up or thinking about being part of a solution for the problem. The Town of Apple Valley would like to give the community the opportunity to change that by having a twice-yearly community clean up day.
The next clean up day is around the corner, only a month away on Saturday, September 17th from 8:30 a.m. to noon. Schools, churches, clubs, and individuals are all encouraged to attend to be part of the positive community event. All those participating will be provided with trash bags and gloves, with each group being assigned an area to clean.
Participants not only leave with the feeling of accomplishment but they will also leave with an event t-shirt and lunch while supplies last. Sign up must be done in advance in order to receive supplies and to fill out the liability waiver, Town officials said. For more information, you can contact the Town of Apple Valley Special Events at (760)240-7000 extension 7071
For those who may not be able to attend the event but need to dispose of bulky household items like mattresses, appliances, and furniture may be dropped off free of charge at Lion’s Park. This also can be done on Saturday, September 17th between 9 a.m. and noon. No televisions, computer monitors or other hazardous materials will be accepted.
Do you have tires laying around? The Town of Apple Valley’s Code Enforcement is offering the Tire Amnesty day. Apple Valley residents can dispose of passenger car and light truck tires at the park for free. The tire amnesty program is being sponsored by Cal-Recycle’s Local Government Waste Tire Amnesty Program and is sponsored by the Town of Apple Valley and Burrtec Waste.
