APPLE VALLEY – A 56-year-old Apple Valley man was arrested for murder after returning to the scene of a Sunday afternoon shooting authorities said.
At around 3:40 p.m. deputies from the Victor Valley Station responded to the 24500 block of Thunderbird Road in the county area of Apple Valley for the report of a shooting. When they arrived they found a victim, identified as Michael Ryan, 40, of Apple Valley, who was suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim, whose name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin, was rushed to the hospital where he died as a result of his injuries.
Homicide detectives were called to the scene to assume the investigation. While investigating, Thomas Butcher was identified as the suspect involved in the shooting. Butcher had left the location following the shooting, but returned at around midnight while detectives were still at the scene. Butcher was transported to the Sheriff’s Station where he was interviewed and arrested for the Thunderbird Road shooting murder.He was transported to the High Desert Detention Center where is is being held without bail He is scheduled to appear at the Victorville Superior Court on Wednesday, December 20, 2017.
