APPLE VALLEY – An Apple Valley man was arrested on Friday for the murder of his 8-year-old son. On Thursday evening just before 5:00 p.m. deputies from the Apple Valley Station and emergency medical personnel responded to the 13200 block of Navajo Road in the Town of Apple Valley for the report of a child not breathing.
When they arrived they found the young boy, identified as Dominic Nunn unresponsive inside the home. Paramedics performed CPR and he was rushed to Desert Valley Hospital. Despite lifesaving measures, Dominic was pronounced dead at 7:28 p.m.
Through preliminary investigation conducted by the Specialized Investigations Division, Crimes Against Children and Homicide Detail detectives learned that Dominic’s father, 38-year-old Shakir Nunn, was responsible for his death. Dominic’s mother was not home at the time of the incident and authorities do not believe she was involved in any way.
Shakir was arrested and booked into the High Desert Detention Center for Murder and child cruelty causing death. He is being held without bail and is scheduled to appear at the Victorville Superior Court on Tuesday, January 10, 2017. The other juveniles in the home went to the temporary custody of the San Bernardino County Children and Family Services.
