APPLE VALLEY – A 46-year-old Apple Valley man was arrested for a home invasion which caused injuries to an elderly couple on Friday.
At around 12:28 a.m. the couple was sleeping in their home in the 21000 block of State Highway 18 in the Town of Apple Valley when the husband heard a glass break in his home. He went to investigate the sound and saw a black male adult walking past the broken window. He told his wife to call 911, which she did just as the suspect forced his way into their home and attacked them both.
Deputies from the Apple Valley station responded to the home and arrived shortly after with the flashing lights on the patrol vehicle stopped the suspect from continuing his assault on the victims. The suspect, later identified as Albert J. Johnson barricaded himself inside a bedroom inside the home as the injured victims fled to safety.
Deputies forced entry into the bedroom and found Johnson hiding. Johnson created a bit of a struggle but was subsequently taken into custody. The victims were transported to St. Mary’s Medical Center for treatment of their injuries. Johnson was booked into the High Desert Detention Center and was transferred to the West Valley Detention Center. He is being held in lieu of $400,000 bail.
