VICTORVILLE – A Canyon Country man was arrested in the City of Victorville after deputies attempted to make a traffic stop for a vehicle code violation.
On Wednesday, August 8, 2018, at around 3:29 p.m. a deputy stopped a vehicle on D Street. As he approached the vehicle, the driver later identified as 31-year-old Steven Rugelio, exited the vehicle and fled on foot. The deputy pursued Rugelio, who had his right hand pressed close to his waistband securing a pouch or holster. Rugelio surrendered near 11th Street and a handgun and holster were recovered in a plater nearby. Inside the vehicle the deputies located ammunition and suspected methamphetamine.
Rugelio was arrested for Felon in Possession of a Firearm, Prohibited Person in Possession of Ammunition, and Possession of a Controlled Substance While Armed.
