ADELANTO- A deputy-involved shooting in the City of Adelanto occurred following a traffic stop Tuesday night. At around 11:40 p.m. a deputy from the Victor Valley station responded to the report of a reckless driver. When the deputy located the vehicle, he attempted to make a traffic stop. The driver of the vehicle later identified as 23-year-old Adelanto resident Ruben Luna-Ibarra.
Luna-Ibarra failed to yield, but shortly after drove into an apartment complex parking lot in the 11200 block of Auburn Avenue and stopped. Authorities said that during the contact, Luna-Ibarra, and deputies an officer involved shooting occurred. No one was injured as a result of the shot(s) fired. Luna-Ibarra was found to have two Los Angeles County arrest warrants was determined to be driving under the influence. He was arrested and booked into the High Desert Detention Center.
As part of the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department Specialized Investigations Division- Homicide Detail responded to the scene to conduct the officer-involved shooting investigation.
