FONTANA – Authorities need the public’s help to identify the person responsible for a deadly hit-and-run collision on Monday night.
At around 11:50 p.m. a witness called 911 to report that a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle while crossing Foothill Boulevard southbound at Almeria Avenue. The vehicle, which was traveling eastbound, continued driving leaving the scene of the collision eastbound on Foothill Boulevard.
The witness described the vehicle as a 4-door sedan with tinted windows that was dark in color. Evidence indicates that the vehicle is a Toyota, that is likely to have damage to the front end including the grill and windshield. The pedestrian, a 69-year-old Hispanic man died at the scene as a result of the collision and the name of the person is not being released so that the family can first be notified.
