RANCHO CUCAMONGA, Calif. – An inmate who was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon and evading police with a disregard for safety.
On Thursday, March 6, 2019, at around 3:22 p.m. Mario Tafoya, 19, a Redlands transient, escaped from the West Valley Detention Center in the City of Rancho Cucamonga. Tafoya was last seen running in a north-east direction in the area of Etiwanda Avenue and 6th Street. Detectives are investigating the whereabouts of Tafoya.
West Valley Detention Center deputies, the Rancho Cucamonga Department, Specialized Enforcement Division, Specialized Investigations Division, Sheriff’s Aviation, and K9 Units are all searching for Tafoya. Tafoya is 5’6” tall, 152 pounds, brown hair, green eyes, and has face tattoos. He was last seen wearing a white t-shirt and no shoes.
Tafoya is known to frequent the area of San Bernardino, Redlands, and Highland. He is considered dangerous, and members of the public should not contact him. Anyone with information about his whereabouts should call 911.
