VICTORVILLE – A 36-year-old Barstow man was arrested for the ongoing sexual molestation of his ex-girlfriend’s daughter authorities said. Christopher Michael Manzanares lived with the child and her mother for a period of time. The victim told her mother about the molestation on Thursday, February 9, 2017, during which time she immediately reported the crime.
Through investigation deputies and detectives from the Victorville Station conducted interviews with the victim. The victim reported that the suspect forcefully engaged in inappropriate sexual behavior with her beginning when she was only four-years-old and continuing until she was fourteen-years-old. The girl did not tell because Manzanares allegedly told her that he would harm her or her mother if she did.
On Monday, March 6, 2017, nearly a month from the onset of the investigation, an arrest warrant was obtained and Manzanares was arrested at Home Depot located at 1100 L Street in Barstow where he was employed. He was arrested on multiple charges relating to the sexual abuse of the victim.
He was booked into the High Desert Detention Center, where is being held in lieu of $1,500,000 bail. He is scheduled to appear at the Victorville Superior Court on Wednesday, March 8, 2017. Detectives have released a photo with the belief that there may be additional victims.
