Barstow Police Seeking Trailer Shooting Suspect

BARSTOW- Investigators are seeking an 18-year-old, Hispanic male in connection with a shooting caused by a domestic dispute.
On February 19, 2018, at around 9:58 AM, the Barstow Police Department’s dispatch received a call from a female stating that her boyfriend, Reyes Guzman a 33-year-old Barstow resident was having an argument with her brother 18-year-old Gabriel Rodriguez also a resident of Barstow.
The argument escalated into Rodriguez arming himself with a shotgun and threatening to kill Guzman. Guzman struggled with Rodriguez and was able to pull the weapon out of Rodriguez’s hands. Rodriguez retrieved the firearm and chased Guzman out of the trailer and discharged a round from the firearm outside of the trailer.
Officers arrived at the Sunrise Pass Estates trailer park on the 1000 block of Windy Pass. This is where they observed a male and female exiting out of a trailer bedroom window. Officers were told that Rodriguez was still inside the residence accompanying a 10-year-old Autistic boy. Investigators set up a perimeter and evacuated neighboring residents.
A special unit of the Barstow Police Department’s Special Response Team and Crisis Negotiations Team were dispatched to handle the incident.
Investigators received intelligence from the Special Response Team who entered the trailer that Rodriguez was no longer inside the trailer, and determined that he must have escaped before law enforcement had arrived. They located the 10-year-old Autistic boy who was reunited with his family.
Once the trailer was cleared investigators interviewed the victims and processed the scene. Gabriel Rodriguez is still being sought out for this crime he is an 18-year-old Hispanic male, Height 5’7″, weighing between 195-200lbs., He has black hair and brown eyes.
