VENTURA – A bank robber dubbed the “Faceless Bandit” because of a mask worn to conceal his identity during robberies in Orange and Los Angeles Counties was arrested in Ventura last week.
During the investigation into robberies of a Playa Vista Bank of America robbery on October 7, 2016, a Torrance Bank of the West robbery on October 12, 2016, a Laguna Beach Union Bank robbery on October 27, 2016, and a Seal Beach Chase Bank robbery on October 27, 2016 an LA County Sheriff Sergeant brought attention to the similarities of the October 2016 string of robberies to a 2014 robbery arrest. This information led to the identification of 36-year-old Beverly Hills resident, Kyle Jason Korte.
A traffic stop was conducted on Thursday, November 10, 2016, led officers from the Ventura Police Department who took Korte into custody without incident. Korte appeared in the United States Court in Orange County on Monday and is being held without bail.
