ADELANTO – The City of Adelanto was the first to permit marijuana-related businesses in the Victor Valley area, but these businesses are only allowed with the proper permits. In recent months, several illegal marijuana facilities within city limits have been located and shut down. “As we’ve said before, we will vigorously pursue, shut-down, and arrest those responsible for operating outside of the law,” said Mayor Pro-Tem Jermaine Wright.
The most recent finding was a dispensary operating as “Patient Med Aid @395” located in the 16000 block of Bartlett Avenue, east of Highway 395. On Monday, November 14, 2016, Adelanto Community Safety officers and deputies served and executed a search warrant at the location. During the search, they located several bags of cannabis products and several hundred dollars in cash. In addition to that finding, an adjoining room was discovered that was being used as a manufacturing area.
“Not only was the business and illegal marijuana operation, the building did not have permits of any kind, including business license or fire inspection,” said Community Safety Manager Steven Peltier. No arrests were made at the location and authorities are attempting to identify the buildings owner. “We’re hoping that continued publicity about our efforts to shut down illegal operations will send a message to others willing to do that same that they are taking a huge risk, and will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law,” said Mayor Rich Kerr.
The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information should contact the Adelanto Community Safety at (760)246-2300. Those wishing to remain anonymous can call the We-Tip hotline at (800)782-7436 or visit www.wetip.com.
