EL CENTRO, Calif. – A convicted child molester and kidnapper who was deported from the United States in 2011 was arrested on Monday afternoon.
Agents assigned to the El Centro Station arrested Jose C. Gomez, a 63-year-old Mexican national at around 1:50 p.m. Customs Border Patrol (CBP) agents arrested Gomez around 11 miles west of the Calexico Port of Entry. He was arrested and transported to the El Centro station to confirm his identity and determine his criminal and immigration history.
Through investigation, the agents identified Gomez as a convicted sex offender who was convicted in Georgia in 2007 of Felony Child Molestation. He was sentenced to five years in prison and was deported when he served his sentence. He also served two years in prison in the State of Virginia for Felony Abduction and Kidnapping on August 14, 1999.
Gomez is facing charges of Re-Entry after Removal and is being held in Federal custody at this time.
