GILMAN HOT SPRINGS, Calif. – One person is deceased after a 2-vehicle head-on collision on State Route 79 (N. Sanderson Avenue) and Gilman Springs Road.
The traffic collision was reported at 11:13 p.m., on Tuesday, January 29, 2019, and was reported south of Gilman Springs Road. Cal Fire and California Highway Patrol (CHP) units arrive at the scene to find one vehicle over the side with an unresponsive driver inside and the second vehicle with the driver trapped inside of the vehicle. The unresponsive driver was pronounced deceased by a medic at the scene and the second driver was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries.
Both northbound lanes remain blocked as of 12:25 a.m. on Wednesday, January 30th. The cause of the collision is under investigation at this time. The name of the person deceased will be released once the family has been notified. Information will be updated as it is received.
