A Costco membership rate increase will affect new and renewing customers beginning Thursday, June 1, 2017 store officials said. Costco is the largest membership club store and the second largest retailer in the world following Walmart.
The store announced early this year that the yearly membership fees will increase in all memberships, with Goldstar memberships increasing $5 to $60 and Executive memberships up $10 to $120 per year. The most recent membership rate increase was in 2011.
Costco currently has 729 warehouse stores within the United States, with 508 warehouse stores in 44 states within the United States and Puerto Rico. Costco also has stores in Canada (94), Mexico (37), the United Kingdom (28), Japan (25), Taiwan (13), South Korea (13), Australia (8) , Spain (2), Iceland (1), and France (opening in mid-June).
