RIVERSIDE, Ca. – A young couple; the male only 17-years-old and the female 22-years-old when they killed and dumped their baby girl under the I-15 in Corona were sentenced, District Attorney officials said.
Joshua Benson and Shawna Andritch, left Baby Jane in a yellow 38-count corn dog box under the freeway near Cajalco Road and was found by a landscaper on July 27, 2018, at around 2:30 p.m. The landscaper reported the finding and when authorities arrived they found the baby deceased and still covered in afterbirth. The newborn female was left with a stuffed animal, a blanket, and was wrapped in a t-shirt. After following numerous tips, the Corona Police Department arrested Benson and Andrich, the parents of the baby girl.
The investigation revealed that the couple had planned to kill the baby for several mother before the baby was found deceased. The two both pleaded guilty on August 20, 2019 to the murder of their baby, known by the community as “Baby Jane”. Benson pleaded guilty to first-degree murder and Andrich pleaded guilty to second-degree murder. On Friday, November 1, 2019, Joshua Benson was sentenced to 25 years in prison and Shawna Andritch was sentenced to 15 years in prison.
