Crestline Man Behind Bars After Torturing a Woman & Holding Her Captive
CRESTLINE – A Crestline man was arrested for torturing a woman and holding her captive for two days authorities said. On Monday, February 27, 2017, at around 5:30 p.m. Twin Peaks Sheriff’s Station received a call requesting a welfare check on a woman and a 56-year-old man.
Deputies responded to the 23900 block of Straight Way in Crestline and made contact with Monte Wayne Shultz and the female victim. The woman had traumatic injuries to her head and face. She told authorities that Shultz has beat and tortured her over the past two days. The woman was transported by ground ambulance to a local hospital for treatment and remains in critical condition. Through investigation deputies and detectives learned that Shultz is a convicted sex offender. According to Sheriff’s officials, in 2013, the Department of Justice suspended his requirement to register with law enforcement.
Shultz was arrested and booked into the Central Detention Center for torture. He is being held in lieu of $500,000 bail. The investigation is ongoing, and detectives would like anyone with further information regarding this case, to please contact them at the Twin Peaks Station (909) 336-0600 or We Tip 1-800-78-CRIME.
