YUCAIPA – A Yucaipa deputy was caught in a solemn moment taking time out to pray before heading out to work on Tuesday morning.
The touching moment posted on social media with his permission was shared over 2500 times throughout the day on Facebook alone. On Twitter, it was retweeted 180 times on Tuesday alone. Deputy Wedge after kneeling in front of his patrol car on Tuesday morning said that he was praying for the safety of his partners and his community.
The job of those protecting and serving, heading toward dangers to protect those in their communities is often taken for granted. People forget the risks taken and the families they leave behind each day in order to protect the families of those in the communities that they serve.
In recent months officers have died in the line of duty, some targeted randomly just for being officers of the law and others by armed criminals desperate to escape justice. This captured prayer is a good reminder of the humans who deserve a smile, a wave, and sometimes, the benefit of the doubt
