BARSTOW – A 19-year-old man was arrested for beating his mother unconscious on Tuesday officials said.
On Tuesday, May 1, 2018, at around 3:45 p.m. dispatchers received a call reporting an assault at a home in the 1500 block of West Main Street. The reporting party told dispatchers that when she arrived home she witnessed her brother, Ismael Beltran assaulting their mother. She said that during the assault her mother temporarily lost consciousness, but regained consciousness and was talking to her. When officers arrived they made contact with Beltran and his injured mother.
“The victim told officers that Beltran entered the residence and began arguing with her,” Barstow Police officials said. “The victim stated that during the argument Beltran began punching her on her body and head. Beltran hit the victim on her head with such force that it rendered her unconscious.” Witnesses at the scene supported the victim’s account of the events. Beltran who was located inside a restroom of the home was placed under arrest for Assault with a Deadly Weapon and Burglary and was booked into the High Desert Detention Center. He is being held in lieu of $50,000 bail and will appear at the Victorville Superior Court on Thursday afternoon.
The victim sustained injuries to her head and was transported by private vehicle to Barstow Community Hospital for treatment of her injuries.
