EASTVALE – If it was not for the quick actions of an Eastvale Deputy, a 3-year-old girl may not be running around and playing as usual today.
On Thursday, June 1, 2017, Deputy Chris Johnson responded to the call reporting a child drowning in a pool at an Eastvale home. He rushed over to the home, arriving just 3 minutes after the call and found the small child’s lifeless body in her mother’s arms near their backyard pool. The girl was not responsive and was not breathing so he immediately worked on opening her airway and started rescue breathing. Soon after the girl exhaled water and began breathing without her assistance.
While CAL FIRE was en route, Deputy Johnson monitored the child’s condition. CAL FIRE arrived approximately 4 minutes later and transported the child to the hospital. The child has since made a full recovery.
