VICTORVILLE, Calif. – Show your loved ones love this Valentine’s Day month by sharing knowledge that may save their lives. As some know, February is Heart Health Awareness Month and to celebrate,
Desert Valley Hospital, located at 14400 Bear Valley Road in the City of Victorville will be having a free event on Saturday, February 9, 2019, from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. During the event there will be free Glucose, Cholesterol, and Blood Pressure screenings, as well as fun for the entire family.
The Center for Disease Control (CDC) says that around 1 in 4 deaths in the United States is a result of Heart Disease, that is around 610,000 people every single year. Coronary Heart Disease (CHD) is the most common, killing around 370,000 every year. Risk factors are high blood cholesterol and triglyceride levels, high blood pressure, diabetes and prediabetes, being overweight, smoking, unhealthy eating habits, lack of physical activity, age, stress, and family history.
Be part of the change and educate those around you by being part of #OurHearts, a national initiative to encourage and motivate everyone to adopt heart-healthy behaviors.

2/11 | Week 2: #OurHearts at Home | What do you do at home with your family to stay heart healthy?Share your #OurHearts stories and photos about how families and parents rely on friends, family, and the community to be heart healthy. |
2/18 | Week 3: #OurHearts in the Community | What’s going on in your community that helps you stay heart healthy? Highlight what your members, followers, constituents, and others in your community do to help people be heart healthy. Organize a walk, run, or dance class. Host a health fair. Offer blood pressure screenings. Share community activities on social! |
2/25 | Week 4: #OurHeartsOnline | How do digital communities help you and others stay heart healthy? Highlight your online communities and their activities. Join NHLBI for a Facebook Live heart-healthy cooking demo on February 26. |
