Eleven Arrested During Barstow Proactive Enforcement Operation

BARSTOW– A proactive enforcement operation in Barstow on Tuesday, led to the arrest of eleven people officials said.

The operation began at around 12:00 p.m. and included fourteen officers from the Barstow Police Department, San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, and the San Bernardino County Probation Department. The operation was conducted with the intention of curbing and ideally eliminating criminal activity. The operation consisted of resident checks, searched for those on probation/post-release community supervision (PRCS), pedestrian checks, and traffic enforcement stops.

At around 1:09 p.m.officers stopped a vehicle with expired registration tags. Officers made contact with the occupants of the vehicle, including the passenger, 26-year-old Mack Palmer III. While speaking with him, the officers observed Palmer concealing something in his hand. When officers asked Palmer to show them what he was holding, they found that he was in possession of methamphetamine. He was booked for possession of a controlled substance. He was later cited and released.

Just after 6:30 p.m. officers attempted to make contact with 36-year-old Oscar Oropeza at his home in the 800 block of Higgins Road regarding an October 6, 2018, report of Domestic Violence, Kidnapping, and Criminal Threats. The officers were unable to contact Oropeza at his home, but while still in the area, they saw him walking towards his home. He was arrested without incident and was booked into jail.

The operation resulted in the following additional arrests:

 

Jose Contreras, 25, warrant for trespassing

Jesse Alcantar, 27, resisting, delaying, or obstructing an officer and possession of a dangerous weapon

Ricardo Topete, 37, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of burglary tools

Eric Kuss, 47,  warrants for trespassing and public intoxication (x2)

Shakia Morgan, 27, warrants for child endangerment, failure to appear to a court date, and driving without a license

Alex Ancantara, 42, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a dangerous weapon

Tyrone Moore, 29, domestic battery

Alonzo Pickett, 37, possession of drug paraphernalia

Jacob Bohannan, 23, possession of methamphetamine
