APPLE VALLEY – Can’t make it to Magic Mountain Fright Fest or Knott’s Scary Farm this year? How about if an exciting night of haunted fun is just miles from your home? The great news is, the High Desert Haunted House will be open soon, but only for seven October nights it is! The High Desert Haunted House located at 9976 Joshua Road in Apple Valley will be open on October 20th, 21st, 22nd, 27th, 28th, 29th, and 31st.
With three separate haunted houses, this is sure to make you face at least one of your worst nightmares. Have a date night, or bring the whole family if you have older children. “The haunted house it’s not appropriate for kids under five, but we have seen little kids go through that wave at that our monsters while their older brothers are scared to death holding on to their moms,” said event organizer, Jordan Ebert. “We also have a hayride going on here for little little kids and the faint at heart which is going to be $5 with two cans of food”. Ebert said that the hayride, which is a trailer pulled by a tractor, tours the outskirts of the haunted house where those on the hayride can see small scary skits while in the safety of the trailer.
The price is only $6 per person with two canned foods (or $8 each without the canned foods) for one Haunted House. The price for all three haunted houses is only $10 per person with two cans of food ($12 without the canned foods). The canned foods go to local churches, food banks, and approximately 35 local families who have expressed need. Ebert encourages those who are bringing cans to bring food appropriate for Thanksgiving since much of the food will be used in Thanksgiving baskets. Anyone who would like to donate more than two cans of food is encouraged to do so.
