Store patrons at the scene; some witnessing the tense situation unfold from only feet away, said that the officer yelled several times for the suspect to drop a knife. The deputy was able to take the suspect, who was described to be suffering from multiple lacerations, into custody shortly after. The store was temporarily evacuated and closed but was reopened at approximately 5:00 p.m.

The male victim was located, and according to emergency personnel at the scene was uncooperative and attempting to pull himself off the gurney. The victim told authorities that his 8-year-old grandson, who was also in the motorhome, ran into the store. The child was located and will be placed in the custody of  Children and Family Services.

The deputy was transported to a local hospital to be treated for the injuries sustained.
