DEVORE, Calif. – Two people suffered major injuries and three others suffered minor to moderate injuries as a result of a traffic collision on the 15 freeway on Monday.
At around 4:55 p.m., the California Highway Patrol (CHP) and emergency medical personnel responded to the Southbound 15 freeway in San Bernardino near the 215 freeway interchange. Per CHP incident logs, five vehicles were involved in the traffic collision, leaving #1, #2, and #3 lanes are blocked as a result of the collision.
The vehicles involved, per witnesses, were a black Chevy Tahoe SUV, a Blue Jeep SUV, a maroon Toyota Camry, a black Ford F150, and a white Kia sedan. Although the collision occurred on the southbound lanes of the freeway, two vehicles came to a rest on the northbound 15 freeway lanes and three on the southbound lanes. A SigAlert was issued at around 5:15 p.m.
Multiple people were injured including children, an extrication was necessary to remove to the two severely injured occupants of the black Chevy Tahoe, which according to CHP reports, overturned as a result of the collision. The occupants in the Tahoe were all transported to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center for treatment. The other injured parties were transported to Loma Linda University Medical Center for treatment.
Alternate routes are encouraged due to heavy delays in the area. All northbound lanes were reopened just after 6:00 p.m.
The cause of the collision is under investigation at this time. No other information is available at this time. Information will be available as it is received.
