FONTANA – A 24-year-old Fontana man was arrested for illegally entering the grounds of the Auto Club Speedway, slamming through a gate and fleeing the scene on Sunday evening.
At around 6:09 p.m. Auto Club Speedway personnel reported that a tan 2005 Ford 4-door vehicle occupied by a Hispanic man illegally entered the grounds in the 9300 of Cherry Avenue in the City of Fontana at a high rate of speed. Authorities said that security personnel followed the vehicle into the infield to the drivers’ garage area and then back out of the infield. The vehicle then slammed through locked gates fleeing westbound on San Bernardino Avenue toward Etiwanda.
The vehicle description and license plate number of the vehicle were collected by security and was passed on to authorities who broadcasted it to the Fontana Police Department. Using the collected information, Roger Reyes was identified as a possible suspect. On Monday, May 15th at around 12:30 a.m. officers from the Fontana Station conducted a traffic stop of the vehicle on Sierra Avenue.
When the vehicle was stopped, it was found to have damage to the vehicle that was consistent with being involved in a collision. Driver Roger Reyes was detained and the investigation continued. Reyes was booked into the West Valley Detention Center for Felony Vandalism.
