VICTORVILLE – Rain in the desert? Are you dreaming of a white Christmas? The Victorville area, according to the National Weather Service (NWS), should expect rain until late Saturday morning when there will then be a chance of light snow after 10:00 a.m.
The snow accumulation is expected to be little to none in the City of Victorville, City of Adelanto, and Town of Apple Valley; while Hesperia may see nearly half an inch and Phelan up to 2 inches, the NWS said. Following the chance of rain, the sun is expected to make a Christmas eve appearance with the high only reaching a chilly 46 degrees. The chance of rain will remain high with a 70% chance throughout the day on Christmas eve. There will again be a slight chance of rain or snow after 10:00 p.m. with temperatures dropping to 27 degrees.
Due to the rain, there have been some street closures in the City of Victorville including; Pebble Beach Drive at the wash East of Arrowhead Drive, Hughes Road at the wash West of Avalon Road, and Avalon Road wash Molino Drive and Hughes. The City of Victorville is encouraging motorists to use alternate routes and exercise caution when driving in these areas.
The Town of Apple Valley has closed several parks on Thursday due to flooding caused by the rain, these include; Brewster Park, Norman Schmidt Park, Corwin Park and the dog park. Apple Valley officials said that these will remain closed until further notice. Christmas day is expected to be sunny with temperatures only reaching 46 degrees.
