Hesperia Man Arrested for Possession of Drugs, Guns and Stolen Property

HESPERIA – A Hesperia man was arrested for the possession of drugs, a weapon and stolen property on August 12th, officials said.  At around 10:50 p.m. deputies from the Victorville Police Department’s Gang Enforcement Detail  was conducting surveillance on a home in the 10700 block of Eighth Avenue in the City of Hesperia. While at the location, they witnessed a verbal altercation between a man and woman.

The deputies approached the two, who were outside of the home and talked to the woman. The female subject was allowed to leave while deputies spoke with the male, later identified as 36-year-old, William Dean Winegardener. Wingardener told deputies that there were people in the garage and when they entered they noticed a large bag containing what they believed to be methamphetamine.

Deputies conducted a search of the home, seizing more than 5 ounces of methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia, firearms, ammunition, cash, a stolen trailer and stolen Sea-Doo Watercrafts. Some of the firearms located were also determined to be stolen.

Winegardener was arrested and booked into the High Desert Detention Center for possession of a controlled substance while armed, possession of a controlled substance for sale, felon in possession of a firearm, receiving known stolen property, possession of stolen vehicle/vessel, and felon in possession of ammunition. He is scheduled to appear at the Victorville Superior Court on Monday morning.
