BREA, Calif. – A Hesperia man was identified as the motorcycle rider who sustained fatal injuries in a traffic collision on Saturday, January 19, 2019.
At around 5:42 p.m. the California Highway Patrol (CHP) responded to the report of a traffic collision involving a motorcycle on the northbound 57 freeway at the Imperial Highway onramp. CHP officials said that Jeffrey Ortberg, 58, was riding a motorcycle when he collided with the pickup truck.
The cause of the collision remains under investigation. A sig alert was issued shortly after the collision and remained closed for approximately 2 hours.
Ortberg also lived in Oregon and Arizona prior to moving to the City of Hesperia.
