COACHELLA – A 25-year-old male pedestrian lost his life after he was struck by tow truck in Coachella on Wednesday. At around 12:09 a.m. the male pedestrian from Indio was walking in a southerly direction on the west side of Dillon Road, south of State Route 86. A 31-year-old Indio man was driving a 2017 Freightliner tow truck southbound on Dillon Road, approaching the pedestrian. The right front of the Freightliner struck the pedestrian.
The male pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene. The name of the deceased man is not being released at this time. The driver of the Freightliner was not injured as a result of the collision. Alcohol and/or drugs were not a factor in the collision. Dillon Road was closed in both directions until 4:45 a.m.
