SAN BERNARDINO – The death of a Central Detention Center inmate lead to a homicide investigation authorities said.
On Wednesday, August 1, 2018, at around 5:23 p.m. deputies from the Central Detention Center, in the City of San Bernardino found an inmate unresponsive in a cell. The inmate victim was rushed to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 6:40 p.m. Homicide investigations responded to conduct an in-custody death investigation. During the investigation, it was learned that Samuel Amador, a 38-year-old convicted murderer who was originally arrested on August 24, 2013, lured the victim into his cell. Once inside, he murdered him.
The Riverside County Coroner will conduct an investigation to determine the cause of death. The name of the deceased inmate is not being released at this time. No further information is available for release.
