BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – A suspect is suffering from life-threatening injuries and a Kern County Deputy sustained moderate injuries as a result of an incident overnight.
On Sunday, July 14, 2019, at around 3:20 a.m., Kern County deputies were called to the 8000 block of Goesling Avenue for a call reporting suspicious circumstances. When the deputy arrived, a family member told him that a male subject in the home was armed with a knife. While speaking with the reporting party, the suspect charged at the deputy and stabbed him with the knife. The deputy in fear for his life, shot the suspect.
The deputy and the suspect were both transported to the hospital. The deputy is in stable condition and expected to survive his injuries. The suspect remains in critical condition.
