RIVERSIDE – An assistant football coach from the Alvord Unified School District in the City of Riverside was arrested following an intense investigation into sexual misconduct.

The investigation was sparked by allegations made by students at La Sierra High School. Authorities were able to determine that Windell Thompson, 21, of Riverside was having inappropriate contact with various female students at the school through social media. Thompson also had physical contact with at least one of the students authorities said.

He was arrested for unlawful sex with a minor and five counts of annoying and molesting a child. Investigators believe there may be additional victims who have not yet come forward. As soon as the Alvord Unified School District was informed of these allegations, the assistant coach was released from his duties. District and school officials, in partnership with the police department, will hold a town-hall meeting to address this incident on Tuesday, October 17, 2017, at 6:00 p.m., in the Performing Arts building at La Sierra High School, located at 4145 La Sierra Avenue, Riverside, CA 92505.
