EL MONTE, Calif. – A Los Angeles County firefighter pleaded no contest to possession of child pornography, Los Angeles County District Attorney’s officials said.
Matthew David Winters, 51, was found to be in the possession of child pornography on a computer at the El Monte Fire Station. The child pornography was discovered sometime between December 2017 and May 2018.
As a result of his plea, Winters was given a 16-month suspended sentence which is suspended and he must register as a sex offender for life. He will also serve five years of formal probation, complete 60 days of community labor, must attend one year of sex offender treatment, subject to search and seizure conditions, prohibited from possessing any pornography, and can’t have any unsupervised contact with minors except for family members.
Winters is due back at the Foltz Criminal Justice Center on March 6, 2019, for a progress report hearing.
