RIVERSIDE, Calif. – The 91 freeway was closed in both directions near La Sierra Avenue when a suicidal male plunged from the freeway overpass on Sunday.
At around 4:20 p.m. on a male subject was seen hanging off of the overpass, according to CHP incident logs. Witnesses said that the male subject appeared to be young, possibly a juvenile.
A SigAlert was issued at around 4:30 p.m. Several California Highway Patrol (CHP) officers attempted to talk the apparently suicidal subject down from the overpass. At around 5:30 p.m. the man jumped. He was subsequently transported to a local hospital in unknown condition.
Once the subject was transported, the freeway was reopened in both directions.
