VICTORVILLE – On Tuesday deputies from the Victorville station responded to the area of North Star Avenue for an attempted carjacking. A 17-year-old female told deputies that she has met Edmond Reliford, a 19-year-old Apple Valley man on Facebook and the planned to meet. The girl picked up Reliford from a Victorville home. She told authorities that he made her feel uncomfortable by making some “inappropriate comments”.
The female teen turned back to drop Reliford off where she picked him up but he grabbed the steering wheel. The victim told authorities that Reliford said the car was his before exiting the vehicle with the victim’s keys. When deputies arrived the suspect fled on foot through backyards and jumping fences. He was detained a short time after.
The victim was not injured but Reliford was taken to a local hospital for some injuries sustained running through yards, some with dogs. He was booked into the High Desert Detention Center for carjacking and robbery. He is being held on $125,000 bail and is scheduled for an arraignment hearing on Thursday afternoon.
