RIVERSIDE – A 42-year-old Riverside man was struck and killed by a vehicle that then fled the scene Saturday night.
At around 9:50 p.m. Riverside police were dispatched to Columbia Avenue west of Mulberry Street for a vehicle versus pedestrian collision. Upon arrival, they located the male pedestrian, later identified as Marcos Bernabe suffering from fatal injuries.
Police determined, through witness statements that the Bernabe was crossing Columbia Avenue from the south sidewalk to the north sidewalk when he was struck by a westbound driving silver sedan. The vehicle continued on, failing to stop to call 911 or render aid to Bernabe.
The vehicle was last seen traveling westbound on Columbia Avenue. The Major Accident Investigation Team responded to investigate the collision. Anyone with additional information is encouraged to contact Detective Felix Soria at (951) 826-8720.
