Man Just Arrested 2 Days Ago Jumps Off Overpass Landing on Car

VICTORVILLE – A 22-year-old Victorville man was arrested after jumping off the D Street overpass onto the trunk of a vehicle on Tuesday morning. At around 7:43 a.m. a male victim was driving on D Street, under the 15 freeway when the approximately 200-pound suspect, later identified as Miguel Angel Perez landed on the trunk of his vehicle.

Although the driver was going around 30 miles per hour, Perez remained on the trunk of the car until he pulled into a nearby gas station. The suspect got off of the vehicle and laid in some bushes, then went inside the gas station. Baffled about what had just taken place, deputies from the Victorville station were called to the scene.

When they arrived they went inside the store to locate the suspect and found him in a backroom. The suspect, who authorities said appeared to be under the influence was placed in an ambulance, where he became combative. Deputies secured him in place due to his erratic behavior. He was then transported to Arrowhead Medical Center for treatment of injuries and further evaluation.

Perez, who was last arrested on Monday, September 5, 2016 for disorderly conduct while under the influence of alcohol,  will be booked into jail upon discharge from the hospital, officials said. He is expected to face charges of assault with a deadly weapon, assault on a peace officer and felony vandalism.
