HESPERIA – A Rancho Cucamonga man lost his life after his disabled vehicle was struck by a vehicle on the 15 freeway on Friday night. At around 10:21 p.m. Irving G. Gerardo, 28, of Victorville, was driving his 2015 Subaru southbound on the 15 freeway south of Oak Hill Road. Don Van Nguyen, 38, of Rancho Cucamonga was driving his 2002 Honda southbound when for unknown reasons his 2002 Honda became disabled just south of Oak Hill Road.
He activated his emergency lights and remained in the vehicle. The Subaru struck his vehicle, causing it to burst into flames. Gerardo quickly removed Nguyen before the Honda was fully engulfed. Nguyen was rushed to Desert Valley Hospital where he was pronounced dead. The collision remains under investigation.
