Man Out on Bail for a Shooting Arrested for an Unrelated Shooting

RIVERSIDE – A Riverside man who was out on $1 million bail for a Moreno Valley shooting was arrested for a second shooting on Saturday.

On Monday, June 27, 2016, a shooting occurred at around 4:00 p.m. at the University of California at the Palms on the 1400 block of University Avenue. The suspect, who was unknown at the time was involved in an altercation at the pool leading to him shooting at several suspects. He fled the scene in a vehicle that was later determined to be stolen. Although officers searched for the suspect, they were unable to locate him.

Around a month later, on Friday, July 29th another shooting occurred at the same complex. They arrived to find a man suffering from a gunshot wound in the parking lot and a second victim inside an apartment suffering from a gunshot wound to the leg. It was determined that the suspect in the shooting attempted to rob the victim, who was transported to a local hospital. The victim of the second shooting was 19-year-old Robert Hilton, who is also allegedly the suspect in the first shooting.

Hilton was released from the hospital on Saturday, July 30th and arrested by the UNET team for assault with a deadly weapon using a firearm from the first shooting. He was booked into the Robert Presley Detention Center. Hilton was out on $1 million bail for a drive-by shooting in Moreno Valley at the time of both shootings.

Anyone with information regarding either of these shooting investigations should contact the UNET Team at (951) 686-7291.
