RIVERSIDE – The man responsible for numerous Riverside armed robberies is behind bars thanks to the detailed description provided by witnesses. Thursday morning at around 9:08 a.m. Big Lots in the 4000 block of Madison Street was robbed at gunpoint. The suspect got away with cash.

Soon after, just before 11:40 a.m. a suspect with the same description robbed the Payless Shoe Store in the 6900 block of Magnolia Avenue. They also were robbed at gunpoint and cash was taken from the store. The suspect vehicle was described as an 80’s model white pickup truck with a shell and push bars on the bumper.

Based on the detailed suspect and suspect vehicle description two Riverside Police motor officers saw a similar vehicle driving south on Washington Street near Van Buren Boulevard. The driver was stopped, detained and taken to the police station for questioning. The suspect, 52-year-old Fernando Herrera was arrested and booked for armed robbery.
