BURBANK – A 47-year-old homeless man was sentenced to four years in prison in court today for stealing a disabled teen’s tricycle LA District Attorney’s officials said.
Carlos Andres Lopez pleaded no contest to the theft of the custom made tricycle belonging to the teen who has cerebral palsy.
On January 23rd, Lopez took the Berkel special needs tricycle that was worth over $5000 from a residential parking structure on Clybourn Avenue in the City of Burbank. “Lopez also stole a sewing machine from the camper shell of a Ford Ranger,” said the prosecutor in the case.
As part of the plea agreement, Lopez will also be required to pay restitution to the victim’s family for damages to the tricycle, the sewing machine, and the truck.
