MODESTO – A 33-year-old Modesto man was arrested after driving a stolen vehicle to meet with his probation officer.
On Tuesday, August 28, 2018, the Stanislaus County Auto Theft Task Force (StanCATT) was in the area of Needham Street and Virginia Avenue in Modesto when they noticed a 1997 Honda Accord driving in the area. After running the license plate, it was determined that the vehicle was reported stolen to the Ceres Police Department. StanCATT watched the vehicle as it drove through downtown Modesto.
The vehicle stopped near 11th and H Streets in downtown Modesto. The driver was identified as Jason Jones, 33, of Modesto. Jones explained to authorities that he was there to meet with his probation officer. Jones was confirmed to be on probation for robbery. He was subsequently booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center for Auto Theft and Probation Violation.
