RIVERSIDE – A 39-year-old Moreno Valley man was arrested after leading deputies on a pursuit in a stolen vehicle on Thursday night.
At around 8:20 p.m. an officer saw a suspicious vehicle near 14th Street and Park Avenue. The driver sped away, committing multiple code violations. The officer attempted to catch up and activated his lights and sirens. The vehicle plate came back to a vehicle of a different make and model than the vehicle it was affixed to.
The driver, later identified as Misael Corral drove onto the 91 freeway east. Corral tossed a bag onto the freeway and subsequently collided into the center divider. He then continued driving and backup units retrieved the bag. Inside the bag, officers located a stolen assault rifle. The driver exited Columbia Avenue and drove onto railroad tracks at 3rd Street. He jumped onto a stopped train, where he was taken into custody at the other side.
Misael Corral, who was already on felony probation, was arrested and taken to the hospital for a minor injury resulting from his jumping off of the stopped train. Once medically cleared, he was booked into jail for possession of a stolen car, assault rifle, evading police, and various of weapons and probation violation.
