HESPERIA – Two children were placed in protective custody and their 25-year-old mother was arrested after she caught was driving under the influence on Saturday afternoon. Hesperia station deputies responded to the area of Sultana and Walnut streets for the report of a reckless driver. The female driver, later identified as Dedeanne Marie Marler Johnson, a Hesperia resident was allegedly driving through yards causing destruction in her path.
When deputies arrived Johnson was attempting to walk away from the scene with her two toddler-aged children. Deputies made contact with the woman, who authorities said appeared to be impaired by alcohol, drugs and/or other medication. Johnson was arrested and booked into the High Desert Detention Center for Driving under the influence and cruelty to a child.
There were no injuries reported as a result of this incident. The children were placed in the custody of Child Protective Services. Johnson was transferred to the West Valley Detention Center where she is being held in lieu of $105,000 bail.
