FONTANA – A mountain lion was put to death on Tuesday morning after terrorizing a Fontana neighborhood for over two days.
Fontana Police Animal Services Unit has been looking for the mountain lion that has been spotted in an area surrounded by both schools and parks. The mountain lion has killed animals at two homes and on Tuesday it was seen during the day near children and adults in the 7900 block of Frontenac Court.
The Animal Services Unit and Fontana Police responded to the home where the mountain lion was found in the back of the home. For unknown reasons, the mountain lion charged at officers, leading the officers to have no other choice but to shoot the animal, in order to protect themselves and the public.
