MURRIETA, Calif. – A Murrieta man was arrested as a result of a couple of blunders when committing a crime, officials said.
On Thursday, May 23, 2019, a resident reported that someone stole one of the bicycles in his open garage as he briefly stepped into his home. The resident reported that he was organizing his garage when he went inside and when he came out, the bicycle was gone. Police said that the victim stepped out to the curb area to see if there was any sign of the bicycle thief, but all he found was a scooter left on the sidewalk.
Police spoke with area residents and identified Nicholas Dixon as the owner of the abandoned scooter. The officer went to Nicholas’ home to speak with the potential suspect when he found the stolen bicycle. Nicholas was arrested for burglary and the owner of the bicycle got his bicycle back.
